Sightseeing

Once you take your eyes of the breathtaking landscapes, you will have the chance to explore a cultural region with centuries of tradition.

The famous artist, Andre Heller, created a land full of fantasy and poetry in “Swarovskis Kristallwelten (Crystal World)” in Wattnes (40 kms). Some of the chambers there are modelled after rooms in “Schloss Ambras” a medieval castle near Innsbruck (60 kms) – but all in crystal. And there are more cultural highlights: Castle Tratzberg (25 kms) with its modern multimedia tours, still seems to be home to knights in armour, the farm museum in Kramsach (25 kms), Rattenberg, the city of hand-crafted glass (25 kms). If you need to get in some shopping, there are factory-outlet sales for Austrian clothing in Pfister, Geiger, Giesswein and Sportalm (all between 18 and 70 kms away), you can buy Austria's finest schnapps at the Rochelt Distillery (40 kms) and, of course, Riedel Glas (60 kms), whose glassware is even on display at New York's Museum of Modern Art. And if you leave the cultural path, you can shop in Zell, Mayrhofen or outside the valley in Rattenberg, Schwaz or Innsbruck. In 45 minutes you will be right in the center of Tyrol's capital city.
